This is connected at the same time as the airport card is in the machine too.

I don't doubt you have a problem but I can't actually make one to go wrong. It makes Macs a bit boring sometimes.

On the obverse, I've got an old Packard Bell without an ethernet card and I can't for the life of me get it to work with any usb wireless device.

It either won't ask for a password and still shows a valid connection but won't connect, or says there's no device present even though the device manager says everthing is ok.

Smug..... Moi! :))
