I might take you to task with the 'occasionally' bit.

The original thread was sent on a brand new, out of the box Macbook.

This is being sent on an old Mac G3 with an airport card and I had no problem.

Seriously, I've never had a problem with secured or unsecured connections.

I would be inclined NOT to be blaming the Mac.

I'm going to try the D-link usb wireless unit that came with the D-link router and I'll send a post via that if it work.
