Seeing the news from yesterday's F1 testing it appears as if Honda have chosen exactly the wrong season to abandon their aspirations of being an F1 front runner.
The new Brawn GP car which has been under technical development by the former Honda team since July last year clearly has potential. The introduction of the Mercedes power plant may well have some bearing on its pace but I feel that alot of credit must go to Ross Brawn, Nick Fry and the team who have produced a chassis able to top the time sheets by a full second after only 3 days of running.
Admittedly this is only testing and many teams (especially Maclaren) may well be sandbagging ahead of the first race in Austrailia in a couple of weeks but to show such pace out of the box is impressive indeed.
All of this creates a very interesting performance mix for the first race with a possible shake up in the establishment that could lead to even more radical moves from the FIA(t) to ensure normal (red) service is resumed on the podium.
