Just don't get me off on the way Poles were treated after WW2 by this country !
I was Army Air corps and our Home /Depot regt was at Middle Wallop in Hampshire,previously RAF Middle Wallop and a Polish fighter sqn base during WW2 I was aware of the input of the Polish fighter pilots and Groundcrew/engineers etc;
When I moved to my present home and found out Stover Park Polish refugee home was nearby I went to see if there was anything I could for them,to pay something back i suppose,I was amazed that these people had come to this country and fought alongside the RAF in the air and Army on land and were still being treated like refugees ! They had raised families,married and some had died in units that were originally designed as prefab barrack blocks in the 30s. 4 families to a block shared bathroom and kitchens.
I was saddened that we could treat our allies in such a manner and yet we now provide housing and benefits for all and sundry.
And that gets me on to the Americans and the cold war,if it wasn't for Ivan we would all be speaking German as well.Then all of a sudden when it's all over the USA decide the USSR is the evil of the World , Ha ,makes you laugh.
