As I have been doing work for the veterans of the Gurkhas for a while, their current stance is not QUITE so 'pacifist' as you are suggesting. Many will tell you that there is a degree of 'outside influence' acting at the moment.....
Secondy, I assume you are, like me, not of solely British stock. My paternal grandfather was Canadian and thus, my father held a Canadian passport, too. The option was for me to hold one as well but I never chose to excercise that right.
Without such 'foreigners' fighting (and one of them DYING) for this country, we would by now, be speaking German....
It's STAGGERING how many people conveniently forget the input freely GIVEN to this country by those who COULD be called 'foreigners' or 'aliens'. For example, the current abuse of the Poles in this country: it shows how LITTLE we know of our history. Without the Pole's assistance (e.g., in Bletchley) during the war... we might NOT have won at ALL.
