Iain, polical correctness and prejudice are not opposites, most people are not at either end of a scale, they are somewhere in between. Either / Or is too simple an argument when it comes to human opinion.

I still do not understand why some people use history to punish modern generations - why should a young person living in the 21st century give two hoots about what their ancestors did several hundred years ago? Apart from passing history 'A' level that is.......

Similarly, should a young man castigate his father for making non-PC remarks about, say, Japanese or Germanic people?

We cannot possibly comprehend what things were like a long time ago, neither should we be punished for things outside of our control.
