Well I heard recently from a teacher at a local school that a Muslim mother ,only one Muslim child in the school so we can guess which one, has approached the school and said that the Koran and Islam should be taught at the school.
Now forgive me if I get this wrong but I assume "Village Name C of E VA Infant and Primary school" is taken to mean " Village Name CHURCH OF ENGLAND VOLUNTARY AIDED Primary School" my kids go there and I don't object to them being told about multiple faiths of the world, but if i wanted them to learn about the koran in depth I would send HIM to a Muslim Mosque school because SHE, from what I can make out wouldn't be allowed to go.
Surely as the lady see's fit to accept graciously the financial aid provided by the Church to the School, she should surely see fit to accept the School's curriculum is based on and around the Christian faith,if she doesn't like it or wishes to impose her faith / views on others then surely a C of E school was NOT the best establishment to place her child.
I've said before Ian you and I must be a similar age I'm 52 and when I was in school there was a lot fewer Muslim's , Hindu's ,and Sikhs Etc at the school's we only had a handful at our school and they just turned up and joined in an integrated. 2 of these "lad's" and 1 girl I am still in touch with and they class themselves as British and are happy to be living here. Some of the "newer" immigrants seem to resent being here from day one and hate everything about us and our country. As an after thought would like to point out i went to school with one guy and we met up again at a reunion 4 years ago, only then did I find out he was Jewish, thats how integrated his family were.
And just why is it ,having mentioned them, that Jews,Sikhs and Hindus have a lot less of a "problem" with our faith and way of life than "ahem!" other faith's?
