Make sure you ascertain whether he has the proof of postage or not. If he does, your claim with eBay/PayPal will fail and you will likely get his back up and get nothing from him. Be friendly and understanding with the guy until you get the proof of postage from him... it will stand you in good stead later if he does indeed have it.
