1) No... we VOTE for Govts, we DON'T vote for the Mafia! That IS the REAL difference!

Errr..... Republics CAN be democracies! What do YOU think they are if they are NOT? The '...public...' in the middle should give you the clue to their meaning! It's means 'government BY THE PEOPLE' and NOT by a monarchy, oligarchy, etc..! Look up the definition of the word from the latin 'Res publica'!

2) Errr.... since when was MY little inefficient company a 'Monopoly'? I didn't CHOOSE monopolies! I could have chosen BA or BMW.... it does NOT beed to be a monopoloy to be JUST as inefficient as a Govt!

You KEEP assuming that it's ONLY Govts that are wasteful and the the Private sector runs it BETTER! Oh REALLY...? What DO you think that the PFI sector that this Govt has introduced has been LIKE???? Have a look at what happened to the RAILWAYS when they went 'PFI'! Or the WATER companies, or the GAS companies, or the ELECTRICITY companies....

3) Of COURSE capitalism WORKS! However, we can now point to examples where UN-restrcited capitalism does NOT work..... the BANKS!

It's clear we NEED capitalism and we need CONTROLS! We can't do without BOTH!

You have been doing the CLASSIC! That of comparing a system which currently EXISTS to a system which does NOT! Without the 'real world' examples, I can show that ANY system works better than what we have simply because YOU don't have examples of that OTHER system, failing! However, experience has taught me to compare systems that are CURRENT with systems that we have tried BEFORE and NOT with IMAGINARY systems. When you do that, you see that ALL of them have faults.... it's a matter of combining the best of ALL the examples.

Put crudely, you are trying to compare the REAL world with Utopia.... and that does NOT exist!
