I honestly BELIEVE that the future is either fuel cell or nuclear based. For political reasons, there's not the same level of R+D going into pocket-sized nuclear reactors as there is going into fuel cells right now, but in time why not ? These devices could be made every bit as safe as what we drive in now. And let's not forget that we currently drive around in bombs. A car with a fuel tank containing gasoline or diesel is a potential bomb... and a multi-story carpark next to an airport, shopping mall or apartment block is an even bigger one. Filling stations and the trucks that replenish them are also bombs.

Nuclear's a dirty word for a whole generation and for no good reason. If we're led to believe that fossil fuels will wipe the planet out [something I hasten to say I don't believe myself], then the ONLY alternative is nuclear.
