But currently fuel cells are very expensive. But they are getting a lot cheaper all the time. I wouldn't be surprised in the Honda FCX Clarity's Fuel Cell Stack costs in the region of $200,000+. But the pace of development for this technology is staggering. That's expensive but about 8 years ago that size fuel stack cost $1.5million.

The biggest thing Fuel Cells have going for them is Oil Companies. They want to keep people coming to their forecourts, they don't care that its hydrogen not oil. As a result they are pouring ridiculous amounts of money into fuel cell development as are car manufacturers. Batteries just don't have that driving force. Especially as laptop manufacturers are moving to fuel cells as well.
