How odd. It's the young who are attributed the nature of being 'optimistic' and old b*gg*rs, like me, who are attributed: pessimism.

Except in THIS case!

I think we MAY be able to do something even though it mauy not STOP the problem, it will mitigate it! Hopefully, the problems will not 'latch' (move to a final position which we CANNOT 'reset') and will only move relatively smoothly towards disaster. If the latter is what occurs, we SHOULD be able to take the required steps to reset the balance, albeit after a HUGE number of deaths!

However, more critically, it's time YOU started to state YOUR position! The question, for you, is simple:

I fully understand that you are NOT convinced that man-made 'Co2' (short hand for greenhouse gases) is the CAUSE of Global warming. However, it's time to state CLEARLY your views about this.

I assume you accept that 'Co2' IS causing the majority of the earth's current bout of Warming. You seem to claim that Man-Made-Co2 is not the MAJOR contributor. However, you have NOT stated whether you feel that we are making ANY WHATSOEVER contribution to the overall effect, no matter HOW small that is. So..... state your position!

If you feel that Man-Made Co2 IS contributing to the overall effect (no matter HOW small), then what is your MORAL position (not PRACTICAL) about continuing our profligate waste of fossil fuels which is leading, in ANY degree, to the damage done to 'our environment' by increased 'Co2'?

Then, if you would be so kind, can you please give us your ROUGH estimate of the sort of percentage of the increase which can be 'allocated' to Man-Made-Co2 and OTHER man-made activities?

We'll then get a picture of you position.

To assist, I don't feel that the ACTUAL levels of our outputs matters a great deal; the fact that they ARE having an effect, that we KNOW they have an effect and we are NOT doing enough to STOP them, is ENOUGH for me to castigate our behaviour!

It's like the sinking of a rowing boat. If the boat has a hole in it, we have a DUTY to try to bail-it-out to save those who depend upon that boat. It is my view that, not only are we NOT bailing-out, we are P***ING into the boat! Regardless of how effective the bailing-out IS, we have a duty NOT to P*** in the boat! (P***ING OUTSIDE the boat WILL reduce the 'weight'!)

With regards to the levels; I feel that we COULD make a difference if we stop P***ING and start bailing. It may NOT be enough but it could WELL be the factors which stop us from sinking completely!

Your argument seems to be.... 'we don't know how fast the boat is sinking or how much difference P***ING INTO the boat makes so we should just carry on P***ING!'. You clearly fancy a LONG swim more than you fancy RESPONSIBLE 'toilet usage'!

Ian
