I became Type 1 diabetic in 2003/4? ish cant really remember - and i have been racing since then.
All you need to do to race is make sure your regular diabetic consultant/GP is happy with your current control - you know what your doing and make sure to have sugar/carbs with you at the track - as you would do with any sport as mentioned above.
Then you'll have to go and see dr.d-ward as mentioned before, it is a slightly price-y trip for what actually happens - he'll just give you a standard normal check-up to ok you with the msa. Its also a time consuming event - i raced on a paper license in april 03' and it was oct'03 i think before i next raced on my actual license.
but it is really worth it - can't give up such a great sport now can we? :D
