I used to run Norton 360 and disable it once a week or so and ran various freeware programs to pick up anything Norton might have missed. Suited me fine until I came to renew the Norton license and they "stole" 4 days of subscription off me and lost me as a customer in the process. I was aware that onecare hadn't set the world alight during it's Beta test but the finished article had got decen reviews and was going cheap at Amazon. I know plenty of people slate microsoft but I've had nothing but good experiences with them so thought I'd give it a go. Firstly, it was a pain to install,it's very insistant on being the only security software so I had to remove all the freeware before it would install. Even then there was conflict with my router's firewall so it took a few gos to get it installed. Secondly,I've got quite an extensive home network (both wireless and network cabled) and am clued up on how to set them up correctly but I've had quite a few firewall issues even though everything has been configured correctly. A minor irritation but an irritation non the less. Certainly more of a pain than Norton anyway. Thirdly I'm getting many more failed pieces when downloading peer to peer stuff and I attribure that to windows firewall sticking it's nose in where it shouldn't be. However, I did pick up a very nasty litlle program pretending to be something else (aren't they always) and it did a good job of preventing it getting upto whatever no good it was intending. So it does the job well enough but its too much of a pain to live with and I wouldn't recommend it over Norton 360 for instance.
