KR went to take the corner on a normal racing line and left enough room for LH to have a go. Did LH make contact with KR, NO. Should LH have been penalised, NO. Was he driving sensibly at that time, NO. Can you stop this type of incident happening in the future, NO. If you try to stop drivers attempting this into the first bend, then you may as well stop them racing and make them go off in single file or behind the safety car.
At the chicane, I think FM got distracted by the car in front again and screwed up his entry into the chicane. LH was having a look at him but then tucked in behind as if he had decided not to try and go up the inside, only for FM to go very wide and suddenly quite unexpected, LH was through. Massa then tried to keep in contention and it all went wrong. I dont think LH did anything wrong in this one at all. FM got his penalty because he rejoined and made contact with another car which he should/could have avoided. My question is why did he only get a drive through, he pushed LH round dropping him to the back of the field and therefore got a big advantage, would a 10 second drive through penalty not have been more appropriate.
FM turned into SB. I actually feel sorry for both of them on this one. A few things contributed to this one I think. The short distance from the pit exit lane to the corner made this an accident waiting to happen. I dont think FM expected SB to be there. SB may have been able to see FM and must have realised that he was going to come across on him or maybe he expected FM to realise that he was there and stay a bit wider. Either way they both got caught out.
A big factor in all of this is the lack of visibility to the side of the cars. In the FM/SB, FM was passed SB and does not appear to move his head to look sideways before he turns in. It would be nice to see how much SB could see of FM. I wonder if this is why SB got a penalty, maybe it was judged that he could have avoided the incident. Personally I think this was a racing incident and should have been treated as such.
Unfortunatly, after the previous races its almost as if any incident needs to be investigated and someone must be punished. My biggest fear now is that we will see drivers wary of attemting overtaking into a corner in case they are judged to have impeded the other car and get a penalty.
Watching 20 cars go round changing places on the straights does not make for good spectating.
Here's hoping that the last 2 races see good racing and no stewards interference.
I would like to see LH get the title, but I fear he will be like Mansell and Hill and have to wait a little bit longer.
I dont think Massa deserves it because of the way places have been given to him. And I would hate for outside forces like Alonso to bias the results by favouring FM.
Kubica, now that would be a hell of a result and it would be appropriate, because he should only win because of the others stupidity and maybe thats what is needed.
