Kudos...

err.....

Yes: there ARE 'co2' emmisions produced by the building of cars. EXACTLY as there are for ALL manufactured AND (most) products GROWN for human consumption, including FOOD!

As such, you would PROBABLY find GREATER 'co2' saving from banning MEAT farming than in car manufacture. And don't even START to think about the cost of BUILDING offices and houses, particularly containing concrete!

I have no objections whatsoEVER to you fighting for a reduction in ALL manufacturing 'co2' outputs but we, as drivers, should NOT be immune from what is sone!

As such, a call to cut the manufacture of (almost) ANYTHING has the same 'value' as you are requesting.

However, it doesn't address the problem that ALL our development of cars during MY lifetime has gone into making them QUICKER and more LUXURIOUS at the expense of FUEL CONSUMPTION! I want to REVERSE that!

Our 'techno' society expects to be able to 'engineer' itself out of trouble. How on EARTH will effectively BANNING innovations (becasuse people won't want to BUY them as they will be TAXED) be as effective and simply RAISING the cost of fuel, increasing the tax-burden on 'excessive' cars (Chelsea Tractors, Imprezas, Veyrons, etc..) and CUTTING the road tax on EFFICIENT cars (Smart, Elise, etc.?)

However, most improtantly, you are jumping the gun, here! The difficulty is NOT (currently) in devising ways to cut emmissions, it's:-

A) persuading the DINOSAURS around us that we are in ANY way to do with the CAUSES of GW

B) Persuading the PRE-Dinosaurs (e.g., Trilobites like RoadRat and Singers) that Global Warming is even HAPPENING!
