What are these current predictions and why are they dire? If man-made climate change is correct, what are the predictions for reversal? What would be happening to the world were man-made climate change not occurring? Whose to say that by continuing on our current path, rapidly diminishing oil reserves won't be replaced by something much better? If things really are as bad as yourself and Ian make out, why do we think taxing people extra and charging them to offset carbon emissions will make a difference? To reverse the affects, surely it would take a worldwide ban on carbon emissions?

Lets take the rise in sea levels as another example. This is going to happen over the course of 50-100 years perhaps. Yes, some people will lose their homes to the sea, but not overnight. It's hardly catastrophic. It only appears catastrophic because we have the arrogant belief that it is our right to choose where we live; the belief that a certain patch of land can be owned.

At the root of the climate change issue is a far more troublesome one of lack of resources. As a species, we consume resources faster than nature can reproduce them. Natures way of restoring balance is famine, disease etc. Perhaps the majority of our attention should be on resuse, recycling and efficiency gains?
