Apologies about the scrapping advice.......but ZIP eagle did try my patience, with its butter like steel properties........in ZIP's defence Dan Parker at Zip was super helpful to me on many occasions, but others there were the opposite, but perhaps thats because they were running a team, hence kept their kards a bit closer to their chest......and the guy from ZIP north was also super helpful too. DK have been great for me too.
Right - starter advice for a ZIP eagle.
I'm assuming your running central TopKart rims on SL3 tyres, if its running LS2 tyres, remove them and get a nice new set of SL3's.
Front run 20-25mm spacers with 1 dot castor, the dot facing precisely rearward. Ensure the tracking is straight. If the camber is out dont worry too much, it should be 1.5 box up on the lasers, but castor takes priority over camber - always.
Rear run the axle on the central height hole, run the rear rims fully out on the 970mm axle.
Start on 25psi in the winter........in the summer you can drop down to 12psi, possibly less, with around 15mm spacers on the front and with no castor, just a central top-hat.
Gearing wise, depends on the track, fast track like Lydd, Kim, PFI, Whilton you want 20:68-72.........slow track like Bayford, Rye, Red-lodge you want 20:75-79.
Take the clutch apart and get some 80 grit sand paper and de-glaze the shoes OD and drum ID every day........if the shoes are tapered and overly worn, get a new clutch.
The above took me 2 years to learn via paying lots of team fees........where shall I send my invoice?
