If its a 118 motor, it may well need the head and block skimming.......and would greatly benefit from a new style ignition coil set to the ragged edge of legality via the bisect TDC check method, plus a 3-angle valve seat cut.....all engines need all the latest regulation upgrades, otherwise they will lack pace compared to those that do have all latest upgrades.
Yes that's me being mean! I'm treading fine line of actually trying to help you, but not releasing every technical detail I know.
But, if blocks and heads have been skimmed, I will say the latest ignition coil and the valve seat cutting do make a noticeable difference, especially on a fast track......the rest is just chasing tenths.
