that dosent surprise me, everyone currently competing in Rotax S1 knows the engine budget expectations and probably already have that finance in place and invested in BIG engines....... as soon as they adopt a pooled engine formula all of a sudden about 30-40 top engines owned by individuals, engine builders and the teams will become worthless over night - perish the thought!
Back in the late 90's / early 2000's Formula-Palmer-Audi addressed all this, but in the end it went pop, because all the dads couldnt hack it when they realized little-johnny couldnt drive a greasy pole up donkeys backside, and they couldnt blame the equipment - awkward.
but then british F3 also went pop, because it was too expensive, now Euro F3 looks like it will also go pop for the same reason - colossal costs.....and looks who's starting to fill the gap, Jonathan Palmer with a spec F3, and F4 with a spec car.....the moral of the story being: the series needs to go pop before people will change anything.....if it doesnt go pop, then just crack on......if you cant hack it, then go and buy a fishing rod.
