yes, when the S1 commentators state: "the honda cadet class is a budget class"..... it makes me cringe beyond belief.....totally no the case, by quite some margin.
for the 3rd time......pooled engines with a random lottery draw each weekend, its the only way to truly limit engine performance at a sensible cost and equalize the playing field. if the are allowed to keep the engine, people like me start to fiddle with them and start to find legal gains.
The MSA or clubs could easily put a quote out to tender for a pool of engines to all of the engine suppliers, the bid should be won on service and cost, completely sealed with oils and clutches fitted.
On saturday the MSA or club perform a lottery draw at the start of the weekend and issue the engines to the competitors, then collect them on sunday afternoon.
A strict service and equalization policy would need to be adhered to to ensure all engines and clutches are always in tip-top and equal condition.
personally I'm sure it will never happen, but we can all dream......rye house already have a pool of honda-cadet engines for their in-house cadet series, and JAG supply a pool of rotax engines to a club, all engines are issued by a lottery draw = very equal racing.
