It's not a matter of Fred's dyno giving the same reading as Sidney's or 'mimicing' . The requirement is that both / all dyno readouts give an accurate representation of the actual torque and hence power of the engine at the time. If the vertical axis of the graph is in the accepted units ( Horsepower) then the engine builder lays themselves open to charges of misrepresentation or fraud if the readout has been adjusted or not verified against the actual performance. The correction factors due to atmospheric conditions or steady state v inertia dynos are a 'red herring' we have had reports on here of 30% difference between the quoted max hp. figures of equivalent engines on different dynos. Those who have followed the discussion on K1 regarding the rotax evo will know that there are ISO standards for the testing of small engines. Maybe someday the kart racing world will be forced to accept that the laws of the land apply to all.
