Hi Folks, the advice I was given for our Honda cadet was to change the gearing when the engine is revving over 6300rpm, or the low revs are over 3400rpm......I have used this to effect today at the Rye-House HKC Honda-clubman championship in our trusty clubman-cadet 2012 P1 chassis, in reality my lad has recently struggled to get it over 6300, more realistic is 6288rpm on the 20:79, perilously close!.....best low revs was 3366rpm on the 20:78......I started on a 20:79, changed to a 20:78, best lap was a 43.12, which is his best lap ever by 0.3 seconds, hurrah!......I think tomorrow will be hotter - just, so I have taken the plunge and changed to 20:77 in the garage when we got home.
my overall point being, what high and low rpm parameters do you T2 Honda-cadet dads use to say right that's enough, time to drop a tooth, or what ever?.....I am suspecting the figures of 6300 and 3400 are a few hundred rpm too high?....admittedly my boy is still learning and he is now mastering the art of carrying the engine revs through the corners, we make progress every time, a 42 second lap is the target for tomorrows race.......Like I said our engine is a Honda Clubman, not an SP, its a very solid T2 from UFO, currently has about 13 hours on it, been on the podium many times in the previous owners hands.
