Hi, i've sent the following email to our teams, probably opening up a can of worms posting it here, but its probably the best way of keeping in touch with a number of people;
As I’m sure you're all aware RPM has introduced a GX200 engine which is proving popular.
As I see it the main benefits of the class is to avoid expensive Sp engines, helping to keep the cost and competitiveness of prokarting where it needs to be. As engines are sealed it also helps us in terms of scrutineering, something which it has been my aim to tighten up on.
My intention for this year at the Three Sisters had been to leave our regs as is, and then make a call next year based on the popularity of the new class, however it’s become clear that a number of our teams are in a position to replace their engines and have expressed interest in going for the GX200 option.
Simply put I propose the following from next month’s race; We allow the GX200s to race in a separate class, essentially running new GX 200 class and GX160 class. All karts will still be on circuit at the same time as we'll be taking steps to ensure the difference in pace is not that great.
Essentially this means if you have GX160s you can still race and there will be a grid for you, but if you are looking to purchase new engines you can go for the 200 option. As always it is our aim to make the class as inclusive as possible.
If anyone has, or is intending to go for the GX200 option can you also email and state this, so I have up to date records on numbers of each class.
I appreciate that this may not appeal to everyone, as with anything in karting there is a multitude of different views. With this in mind you have a week from when this email was sent to voice any concerns, before I make my final decision.
