I must be missing something because I can't see how using the clutch keyway to identify where tdc is and whether the flywheel keyway has been moved can work. Anybody that way inclined will simply move the clutch keyway as well as the flywheel keyway. Surely the only way to accurately measure tdc is to actually measure when the piston is at tdc, anything else is guesswork.
Perhaps it will become clear when we get to see the regulations and the tool. Which leads on to:
If this regulation is being introduced for 2014, which is now 4 weeks away including the Christmas and New Year shutdown, when are we going to get to see it and when will the tools be available?
I suspect the first few events next year are going to be chaos, and unless this change gives a performance improvement they'll be lots of people on old spec engines who are 'totally unaware' of any change. Hardly surprising given the lack of notice.
