They are optimizing or attempting to optimize the ignition timing ,but the methods used are not allowed. If a selected combination of unmodified crank , flywheel and coil? were used which gave exactly the same timing advance as the twisted crank or recut keyway, it would be 'legal'under present rules. Selected parts 'legal'but the same result usingthe parts you have is 'cheating'!
