I have to admit, when it has been very wet, I do tend to use an air-line to blow the air cleaner from the inside out to try and dry it and blow away any rubbish.

We used to have a cadet chassis where the engine was mounted on the right hand side. We had a very long (a few hours on track) very wet test day, where our driver had a hoot going around, then through some very deep puddles, disappearing in spray, spinning, chuckling and getting going again.

Still didn't get any water actually in the engine.

Again though, another of my habits might mitigate against this, I quite often empty the carb using a 10mm t-bar spanner, so if water was to get that far, I think it wouldn't last more than a session.

Hope you fathom it out, without having to buy many spares!
