OK, thanks for all your input so far. The basic idea of buyback was to make an economy class for folk who didn't want to spend big bucks on engines. At some circuits this has added an additional grid, which has got to be good for karting? I'm afraid I can't really understand the thoughts of some of the previous comments where they are suggesting that we make an engine slightly better that the best T1, or a good SP, then make that the buy-back level. Surely that is going to mean the buy-back cost will be £1k or more? The buy back currently used involves an out-of-the box engine which has been de-governed, had the cam timing optimised and is supplied with cover, pump etc for under £425 (2012 price). This can be bought after the event for £550, the first to make an offer gets it! I don't think it would be right to advocate this for a complete championship, but personally feel that a category within the championship for buy-back might increase grid sizes.
