I sort of get the reason why people would want to do this but personally would race anywhere where my engines could be swapped, I dont have sp motors and didnt pay a lot for them when new but have owned them for 2 years and am quite attached to my motors as ive invested time/money maintaining them, they are good / fast reliable motors that I wouldnt sell at any cost and I certainly wouldnt want to swap them for someones old generator motors.
and another take on this, having raced with honda cadets and prokarts for 3 years now I dont think that there is the time in good engines that people think there is , from my experience there is much more time to be found in good set up /tyres and most importantly the driver!
Its easy for someone new to the grid to look at the front running karts and saying they must have expensive Sp engines,Ive heard it whispered about my lad time in the paddock and we dont! as said in my experience its isnt all to do with engines the front runners would most likely still be at the front regardless of what engine they had as if you are driving a kart to its full potential the difference between a top engine and average motor which at the end of the day is 0.1 - 0.2 of a hp on a lap the time difference is very small!
