we were pulled in at the end of the final for cam timing to be checked, unfortunately as others did I got the impression that the scrutes were unsure of what they needed to check, Ive no idea what mods you can do to the cam to improve performance but the checks carried out were to check the size of the cam lobes. I would guess that would tell if any one was cheating but why not while the casing is off have a look into what other checks can be carried out I dont think anyone of us would have objected.
On the cadets we had the exhaust checked for flatness which is proven when bent makes a significant difference in straight line speed and we seem to get this checked every meeting now which is fair play and very easy to check.
we have also had the jets checked in the carb a few times but again while the carb is in bits the body size could be checked too .
we all hear a lot of speculation around various paddocks about drivers in both Honda cadet and Prokarts that are running 200 carbs , running tyre softner etc if these checks were enforced drivers would think twice of cheating
As said im no expert but I would have thought only basic equipment and a knowledge of what to look out for would be needed to carry out these checks.
