We have made a fitting from a spark plug and put compressed air into the bores, when they are leaking you can clearly hear the air escaping throught the ports. We test with 25psi of compressed air. It is a good method of discovering a leak but admittedly it is a ball ache putting the head back on to find it is still leaking.
