Mattman, I agree with everything you have said and that's reason we have chosen the Honda route.
However, I kind of get why the MSA make Comer so prohibitive - It is a gentle introduction to the massive cost that is inevitable further down the line (It seems almost anybody can buy an F1 seat, even governments are backing drivers!). We intend to have the most fun possible with a budget that isn't going to prevent us having a family holiday each year and hopefully meet some good people and make some good friends along the way.
