If you want clone rules, the States have already done all the hard work on that score.
But personally I don't see the point, a half decent clone is only half the price of a Honda. I'm sure a series promoter could get GX160's at a little less the Ł200 each and it's a known quantity.

The clones do not not take the revs of a Honda, it is esential to change the flywheel otherwise you are driving around with a potential handgrenade on either side of you and the valve train needs upgrading for racing. All in all some clones would be lucky to make it around the first lap let alone a seasons racing.

If you really want a cheaper engine the Kohler CH270 would be a better choice (not a clone). In standard form, it's as quick as a very good GX160 and they are about 30% less than a Honda.

Our local track is now using them instead of GX200 on hire karts and they are proving to be more reliable.
