Honda GX 240 - Knocking When Running! Help!

Hi all,

I have just fitted a Honda GX24 engine to my kart, however when i start it up it has started to make a loud knocking noise, when turning over, i cant locate the noise, however can elimate the clutch and frame it is sitting on.

It sounds the piston is hitting the valve/s.

Can anyone offer advice, before i strip the engine down tonight.
