Hi Kev, the engines last well and there are very few failures, even when we run in the heat at the Le Mans 24hr event. You would expect to top up your oil once or twice during the event, but that would take place during a normal driver change/fuel stop. If you should have an engine failure that would need to be replaced but there is no allowance for that in the event, so it's best to practice engine changes as a precaution, and make everything around the engine (chain guard, throttle cable, fuel pipe etc) easy to detach and reconnect.
