Hi - I have 2 GX200 clones which I have changed the flywheels on to genuine honda and have billet con rods in (2 previous bottom end failures).
I am looking for more power and understand the GX200 head is 22cc, GX160 heads are 18cc and some are 14cc (or the 18cc can be machined down to 14cc).
I tried to put what I believe is a 18cc GX160 head on the GX200, but coulf barely pull the engine over - got a massive kick back (and a hell of a bruise!!).
The cams are also genuine honda gx200 cams and still have the decompressor mechanism on.
One thing I did notice was that the valve clearance adjustment was almost at the top of the rocker shaft - ie very very little thread showing - didnt think this was normal so stuck the gx200 clone head back on.
So - a number of questions:
- Is the old GX160 head no good (or just needing rebuilding - didnt think the rocker adjustment thing is right??). - Is the problem with pulling the engine over likely to be the first issue, above, (if it is an issue) or possibly something else? - Any idea as to how much more power the engine may generate running on a 18cc head or 14cc head? Appreciate that this is finger in the air and dependant on other changes to the engine (it has 8 degree advance key and blackthorn exhausts). - Finally will a 22mm Mikuni offer any performance improvements - if so any idea of what?
Many thanks, Paul
