you folks can no doubt see just how tricky it can be to spot the differences at a glance. K system is for 8mm disc, GTK is for 12mm vented disc. as lard has already mentioned, the K type is a perfectly good system being a slimmed down version of the GTK, but the GTK can accomodate the fat endurance pads. when you go to buy a used kelgate system this is what you should ask the seller,.. is the caliper 92mm [k] or 96mm [GTK] wide ?. length of hose to fit a 7TDB [ for example ] should be either set17 or set20 as the lengths used to be known or otherwise the new standard practice of hoses measured in cm. ask seller if the caliper has developed "tram lines of wear" inside the caliper itself, this can render a caliper useless. best to find one where the hard anodised coating has not been worn off. lastly, there are 2 types of master cylinder, the 18mm bore [ 2 holes to fit to chassis ] and the 22mm bore [ 3 fitting holes ] . the 18mm as preferred by many 2 stroke pilots and fitted to hire karts gives a more powerful pedal.
