Key point raised by Brain, it must be fitted length ways.

So imagine you are sat in the kart, you have bolted the strip to the to the floor tray infront of the fuel tank, out of the way of the pedals and your feet; the wire should be coming out of the strip casing backwards, towards you and the steering wheel meaning that the strip is mounted length ways, front to back, on the kart.
