Shouldn't the question be, why is the grid diluted? Couldn't this be simply the right engine hasn't yet been found?

I would agree, that in some ways the Suburu is like an owner driver hire kart. But then so is the Prokart and for that matter the Honda cadet and those are two of the most successful and reasonably priced classes in karting.

This is not a bad thing. There are plenty of people I'm sure who would like to arrive and drive but on their own equipment. I've experienced 3 years of the bulls**t of engine optimisation, parts selecting, and outright cheque book racing. Pretty well had enough of it.

For me the Suburu Cup class (run much like Easykart but with 4 strokes) as run in France is the perfect antidote to this.
