Yes, this is tgrue, but colossal if you do any type of endurance racing. I used to crack open the dust cover on my medway bearings for racing in F6 and do the same thing, used brake claner to remove all the gunk and then used lube, they spin and spin and spin. We used the same axle for an endurio round bayford once and the axle siezed and locks up, couldnt get the bearing off hte axle after that!

Not tamper with the dust covers if you want to do any lengthy race. I find that a brand new bearing will become 90% free after thae first sprint race you and then jsut remain at that level for ages an ages.
