i`ve got a super pro kart with a honda gx620 v-twin,which when i last raced (nearly 2 months ago)seemed to be burning oil after the 3rd out of 4 races. i topped up the oil level, which took about a half pint, raced the 4th race, checked oil again, same amount missing! having got home, presuming that a probable strip down and new rings were needed i finally made a start today. upon removing the air intake to the carb, there was a small pool of oil along the bottom of the carb casing and into the inlet manifold so i removed the manifold to check if there was any at the head ends of the manifold but there was only slight damp/misting. now i`m wondering how the oil has got there, because the breather pipe from the crank casing to the air intake side of the carb is absolutely dry.i even thought that maybe the oil was coming from the crankcase pulse pipe to the fuel pump and then coming into the carb with the fuel, but having checked the pulse pipe, that is also dry/oil free. if the engine is getting oil past the piston rings then that would obviously explain the missing oil,but that would se exiting through the exhaust and surely it could`nt come back up through the inlet valves into the manifold.i should add that i run a non std k+n type air filter on it and there seems to be no noticable drop in power.the oil is changed around every 5hrs and always to the max mark so maybe i`m overfilling (i don`t know the exact amount it should take) but i`ve never had this problem before and it still would`nt explain things. does anyone have any experience of these or maybe had similar problems and able to offer any advice?
