My son has a Honda Cadet (Biz chassis) and we have started racing at Red Lodge.

We are geared with 20T and 76T. Around the twisty sections he is the same speed as the other karts however on the straights he drops by 3 or 4 kart lengths. He is getting out of the corners and onto the straight with the same gap between him and anyone behind him but you can visibly see them close from about a 3rd of the way down the straight.

Is this the gearing or does this imply the engine is down on power?

The maximum revs we see is only 5400rpm. I was going to go to a 78 sprocket but someone has told me to go to a 75 - now I'm confused!

Any help/advice appreciated.
