The rules state that that no solid object apart from jewellery or dogtags may be carried on the drivers person (K199 re: Weights).

While one might be able to argue that a lead sand weight isn't solid, I would think that the MSA would take a dim view.

Clearly the intent is that one doesn't carry extra weight that isn't protective , helmet, rib protector, joint protectors etc.

Besides, should the worst happen, you really don't need a couple of kilos of weight on the end of long levers pulling legs and arms into the wrong positions.
