Sounds like a great idea, just need to make sure that the engines really are equal.
Of course if you're from Honda France you would do it differently, you just take the engines straight out the box, tell everyone you've checked them, but don't bother(cheaper that way)
That's what happened at the French Minikart championships this year, qualfying races on our own engines, there was about a second between the top 20. Then the A finalists were given these engines at which point the difference between fastest and slowest went to nearly 3 seconds. The B final pace was a second faster than the A final.
When a group of us complained the Honda officials told us 'it's only kids racing and they enjoy it whatever the result' and 'if you don't like it find another sport'.
Really this happened.
