I'm interested to know what parts you think can be modified without a scrutineer noticing. The catch all in this respect is no metal added or removed. I can only imagine that you are talking camshaft on the 160???? Obviously this is something that is technically difficult and time consuming to check, perhaps some sort of control camshaft for the class might be an answer?
On the 120 the problem is completely different, here the port/valve pocket intersection is the most restrictive part of the engine and the're all different. Even small amounts of metal removed here make huge differences. This area is impossible to measure and the engines from Thailand are often deburred/hand finished here as well which makes it something that is almost impossible to accurately control.
Unfortunately it also make it discretionary, which in a country that works on the basis of 'it's who you know' makes it harder and harder to compete. It's inevitable that if I took a can't beat them join them approach I would be DQ'd first time out. Moi,Paranoid???? lol
