if it helps back in 2014 I bought our first T2 clubman engine, sent it back to UFO for a routine service and it turned out someone had replaced the T2 carb with a T1 item, totally illegal...... so I sourced and provided a new T2 carb to UFO, and with a bit of tinkering with jets and what-not, it was soon identical in dyno performance to the T1 carb.......honestly I think its an old wives tale, even if there is a difference, its minuscule.

Engines are worth tenths.....drivers are worth seconds......at the early stages just make sure your engine is healthy, then put more effort into your driver.
