It's not about getting excited or not and yes you have to work within the rules but as knighty said the fun for some, is looking for that out of the box solution. To be honest, I have more respect for that, than for those who throw money at finding the biggest engine they can. I remember back in the comer cadet days, one dad, who would try and buy any big engine that came for sale, not because he needed another but to prevent another lad gaining the advantage his lad already had, how sad is that?

If someone did find a better clutch and it was legal, obviously if it became widely know to have an advantage, more would start using it, so the advantage disappears or the rules makers might think it "out of the spirit" of the rules, and they could tighten/change the rules. But until either of those things happen, there are legal and legitimate avenues to investigate.

I actually believe knighty, just from what I know about how much tal-ko needed to tune the tag engine to regain parity with the dd to offset the disadvantage of the extra inertia, there could easily be a couple of 1/10's to be found in finding a better clutch.
