I would say that would be a mistake on both fronts.

The weight limit is standard across the Extreme class at 185KG (PF will be from the start of next season). I think the uplift was welcomed. The engines are heavier than the 160s and karts ave gained weight over the years with all the extra bodywork.

As for tyres the Bridgestone tyre has proven to be pretty consistent over the past few years. Teesside/EPEc used a cheaper tyre years ago and they were awful - some were not even round. If you wanted to add a control of tyre costs it would be as easy as requiring the drivers to use sets for at least 2 or 3 rounds. It is as easy as someone independent stamping the inside wall before the karts are allowed out for quali.
