However the rich and powerful who seem to abound im some areas of karting would consider it a point of honour not to be 'duped' by some mere engine builder. As you have told us earlier it might be difficult ,even in an age where the consumer is 'God', to get much interest from 'Trading standards' so it would be a matter of the complainant bringing a civil action against the builder. He would call expert witnesses and other customers to support his case. If it was decided by the court, that 'on the balance of probabilities' the readout on which the engine was sold was invalid, then he would win the case and be suitably compensated with costs. If in the course of the proceedings it transpired that either purposely or through neglect the builder was in the habit of fraudulently misrepresenting his products, then criminal proceedings might follow.
