One of the better known engine suppliers is recommending a very specific 0W10 oil with his engines now. Previously he recommended the 0W20 oil from the same manufacturer....however there are plenty of people out there doing very well with thicker oils than those.

Rightly or wrongly, when I looked into oils for the little GX engines, I focussed on what works best with our flat tappets. I currently use a synthetic oil, but there are mineral and semi synthetic oils out there that look after our valve train very well too.
